Today we’re going to talk about how you can respond to the question, “How is the market?”

Today we’re going to talk about how you can respond to the question, “How is the market?”

We’re coming up in the holiday season, there will be a lot of client events, and networking events. A lot of times we’re going to see families and friends, and they’re going to ask you inevitably, if they know you’re in real estate.

When asked, “How's the market?”

The common answer is, “It’s strong.” ‘It’s busy.” “It’s slow for the Holiday seasons.” Whatever general response to what you’re seeing.

The proper response is to really add value to the person asking the question, but also to seize the opportunity to go deeper.

Are they looking to buy, or sell, or rent, or to invest? One of these reasons is going to greatly affect the answer to how’s the market for that person.

If you’re looking to sell right now, obviously, it’s a strong market, there’s a lot of buyers out there.

If you’re a buyer, it’s a tough market to some degree, but also a great opportunity with low interest rates.

For rentals, it just changed 6 months ago, it’s the easiest market to be a tenant. Now, it’s very tough and tight. But it’s the opposite for landlords. Now, they can name their price and get multiple applications in the first week.

Knowing what the person’s intent is gives you the ability to answer more directly and give them more value.
