“I’m Not Throwing Away My Shot”

“I am not throwing away my shot!” Little Hamilton reference from the roof of my office building, which is looking like the set of my family’s favorite Broadway show. I came across an article yesterday about Hamilton and it made me think of a few things that apply to business and wanted to share my top three thoughts with you.

𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭: Lin-Manuel Miranda took 7 years to write Hamilton. He wrote, and rewrote and wrote again with nothing to show for it for over 6 years. It made me think, how long are we willing to work and build our business without the desired results we want? Yes, we’ll have wins and achievements along the way, but big success will not come overnight. Are we willing to put in the hard work, long hours, late nights rethinking and retrying over and over until we get the results we want like Lin-Manuel did for all those years?

𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮: The characters, the founders. How much passion the people had for what they were doing. Revolting against society, trying to start a new country, doing something that was so crazy with such a passion! Had me asking, do we wake up with passion every day for our business? Do we wake up with a burning desire to help people buy and sell real estate? Do we have that passion to help people build their real estate businesses and be part of our teams? If we want that passion, how do we find it? We need that fire in our bellies like the founding fathers had when they were starting a new country!

𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯: The article yesterday mentioned that the cast and crew spent 6-8 weeks rehearsing before they even did one show! Made me think of us in Real Estate, how much time do we spend practicing? How much time do we spend refining our craft? How much time do we spend putting in the necessary back work, role playing and sharpening our skill sets needed to build our business?

Those are three thoughts that resonated with me in relation to our business and just something to think about. Back to work now, take care! -Jeff
